Frequently asked questions

I'm a total beginner - will I be the slowest there?

Honestly, you won't, and even if you were, nobody would mind. Loads of London running clubs run proper beginner-friendly sessions with no pace pressure, and most keep a slower group so you're never left behind or running on your own. Look for clubs tagged "Beginner-friendly" and just turn up - everyone there was new once too.

Do I need to be fit or fast to join?

Not at all. Most clubs welcome every pace, from gentle joggers to seasoned racers, and group runs are usually split by speed so you'll always have company. The social and beginner-friendly clubs are far more about showing up and enjoying it than hitting any time - there's genuinely no test to pass.

How much does it cost to join?

Often nothing at all. Plenty of London running clubs are completely free and simply meet up for a group run, so you can try one with zero commitment. Clubs that offer coaching, track sessions or England Athletics membership may charge a fee - the club's own page or website will spell out the details.

When do clubs usually meet?

Most meet on weekday evenings, weekend mornings, or both, so there's likely something that fits around your week. You'll find each club's meeting days right there on its card, making it easy to pick one that suits you.
