A friendly East London club since '88

🏃 Barking and Dagenham Weekly Social Competitive Beginner-friendly

Born in 1988 and affiliated to England Athletics, D88 is the kind of club where you'll keep bumping into familiar faces at the local parkrun and the East London 5s.

Members range from beginners to seasoned racers, and there's a strong community streak - we've even got a club physio at Hornchurch Stadium. We race road and cross country and we're always glad of new members.

A cracking local option in East London. Have a look and come down.

Real stories of people who found their people in London.

Rachel Okafor · 15 June 2026 I was someone's mum from 6am to midnight. A book club gave me back two hours that were mine. After my son was born I disappeared into being his mother. The thing that brought me back wasn't a spa day or a grand gesture. It was a paperback and a room full of women. Hannah Cole · 3 June 2026 I moved to London for the job. The loneliness nearly sent me home. Arriving in a city of nine million people and feeling invisible - and the ordinary Tuesday evening that slowly changed everything. Liam Carver · 17 June 2026 Burnout took me apart. A beginner running club is how I put myself back together. I pushed myself until I broke, then sat at home ashamed and flat. Learning to run slowly, with no one keeping score, taught me that showing up gently beats winning.
