A friendly East London club since '88

🏃 Barking and Dagenham Weekly Social Competitive Beginner-friendly

Born in 1988 and affiliated to England Athletics, D88 is the kind of club where you'll keep bumping into familiar faces at the local parkrun and the East London 5s.

Members range from beginners to seasoned racers, and there's a strong community streak - we've even got a club physio at Hornchurch Stadium. We race road and cross country and we're always glad of new members.

A cracking local option in East London. Have a look and come down.

Real stories of people who found their people in London.

Rachel Okafor · 15 June 2026 I was someone's mum from 6am to midnight. A book club gave me back two hours that were mine. After my son was born I disappeared into being his mother. The thing that brought me back wasn't a spa day or a grand gesture. It was a paperback and a room full of women. Claire Donnelly · 7 June 2026 I sat silent at book club for months. Finding my voice there changed my whole life. I'd spent my whole life letting other people's opinions fill the room. A monthly book club, and one patient question, taught me that mine mattered too. Stephen Pryce · 11 June 2026 I couldn't remember the last time I'd made a new friend. Then I made one at 41. My friendships had quietly thinned out over a decade, and I'd stopped believing new ones were still possible at my age. A weekly board game night proved me wrong.
