One rule: just say yes

🏃 Hackney Weekly - Tuesdays & Saturdays Social Beginner-friendly

Esmée started this after learning to walk and run again following an accident, and it shows - the whole thing is a celebration of what your body can do, with no sign-ups and no pressure.

We meet Tuesdays at 6:30pm and Saturdays at 9am in London Fields, Hackney. Walk it, jog it or run it - some push the pace, some keep it gentle, a few walk the whole 5k - and we finish at the pub.

It doesn't matter how you move, only that you do. Turn up solo or drag a mate; either way you'll get a proper welcome.

Real stories of people who found their people in London.

Margaret Ellison · 5 June 2026 At 68, I thought my world had got smaller. A walking group proved me wrong. After I retired and lost my husband, the house went quiet and the days got long. Then a Saturday walking group gave me back something I thought was gone for good. Arjun Mehta · 13 June 2026 I optimised my whole life in London. Except the part that actually mattered. I moved here for a brilliant engineering job and built a life so efficient I barely had to speak to anyone. It worked perfectly, right up until it didn't. A running club fixed what I couldn't. Stephen Pryce · 11 June 2026 I couldn't remember the last time I'd made a new friend. Then I made one at 41. My friendships had quietly thinned out over a decade, and I'd stopped believing new ones were still possible at my age. A weekly board game night proved me wrong.
