Walk-and-talk groups for men's mental health
The Proper Blokes Club is a walk-and-talk community for men's mental health, founded in September 2020 by Scott Oughton-Johnson after his own rough patch during the pandemic. From one lad turning up to that first Southwark walk, it has grown enormously and now runs around 25 to 30 walks a week across 12 London boroughs.
Walks are gentle and accessible - often around 3 miles in local parks - and you don't have to talk if you don't want to. They're for men with family, work, health or money worries, men feeling anxious, lonely or isolated, or men who simply want fresh air and friendly company.
Being with like-minded men makes it easier to open up, and many describe gaining not just mates but brothers. Walks are free; just turn up.
