The Girls That Walk

Women's social walking club in Battersea Park

🥾 Wandsworth Weekly - most Sundays Women-only Social Beginner-friendly

Founded on 24 September 2023 by personal trainer Alice Ravelli, The Girls That Walk is a women's social club created to help women connect, make friends and feel less lonely while getting active. The group meets most Sundays for a walk in Battersea Park, gathering by the Pier Point Cafe on the Chelsea Bridge side.

It began when 20 women turned up to that first walk, and has grown into a thriving community with thousands of followers and a packed calendar of events - from pilates and picnics to wine tastings and crafts. The ethos is positivity, respect and making everyone feel welcome, with safety taken seriously.

Come solo and leave with new friends; it's a wonderfully supportive space to beat big-city isolation.

Real stories of people who found their people in London.

Hannah Cole · 3 June 2026 I moved to London for the job. The loneliness nearly sent me home. Arriving in a city of nine million people and feeling invisible - and the ordinary Tuesday evening that slowly changed everything. Stephen Pryce · 11 June 2026 I couldn't remember the last time I'd made a new friend. Then I made one at 41. My friendships had quietly thinned out over a decade, and I'd stopped believing new ones were still possible at my age. A weekly board game night proved me wrong. Margaret Ellison · 5 June 2026 At 68, I thought my world had got smaller. A walking group proved me wrong. After I retired and lost my husband, the house went quiet and the days got long. Then a Saturday walking group gave me back something I thought was gone for good.
