Sociable Freedom Pass walks for the retired
Part of the University of the Third Age, this friendly group is a lovely option for retired and semi-retired walkers in South London. They enjoy walking around 4 to 5 miles in varied locations - a pavement walk in central London, a canal towpath, the Thames Path, or somewhere local - usually ending in a pub lunch, and aim to reach destinations using their Freedom Passes.
Walks happen monthly, with the emphasis firmly on health, friendship and mental wellbeing rather than challenging distances. It's a warm, sociable, unhurried group where you'll easily make friends and explore London's green and riverside corners.
If you're looking for gentle, companionable walking with a community feel, this is an ideal place to start. (Membership is via the local U3A.)
