Havering & East London Ramblers

Leisurely rambles in London's green spaces and Essex

🥾 Havering Mostly Tuesdays, plus some weekend and evening walks Social Beginner-friendly Day trips

This friendly group offers leisurely walks of around 5 to 7 miles through a lovely variety of landscapes - Essex and London's open spaces, countryside, woods and forests, country parks, riversides and canal towpaths. Occasionally they take the train further afield to explore new areas, and London's parks come into their own during muddy winter months.

Their most popular walking day is Tuesday, with some Saturday, Sunday and early-evening walks too. Many walks include the chance to relax in a cafe or pub at the finish, so there's a sociable feel throughout.

It's an approachable, unintimidating group ideal if you want a gentle-to-moderate distance with good company and a friendly welcome.

Real stories of people who found their people in London.

Liam Carver · 17 June 2026 Burnout took me apart. A beginner running club is how I put myself back together. I pushed myself until I broke, then sat at home ashamed and flat. Learning to run slowly, with no one keeping score, taught me that showing up gently beats winning. Claire Donnelly · 7 June 2026 I sat silent at book club for months. Finding my voice there changed my whole life. I'd spent my whole life letting other people's opinions fill the room. A monthly book club, and one patient question, taught me that mine mattered too. Margaret Ellison · 5 June 2026 At 68, I thought my world had got smaller. A walking group proved me wrong. After I retired and lost my husband, the house went quiet and the days got long. Then a Saturday walking group gave me back something I thought was gone for good.
