Cozy and conversational monthly book chats in East Dulwich

📚 Southwark Monthly - third Thursday Beginner-friendly Social Fiction Contemporary fiction

Looking for a community-focused space to talk about literature in East Dulwich? The Grove Vale Library Book Group meets on the third Thursday of every month to explore contemporary fiction in a cozy, pressure-free environment.

Our sessions are wonderfully informal and friendly. We love to focus on how the books make us feel, swapping recommendations, and chatting about what we liked (or disliked!) in a relaxed, pressure-free environment. It is a fantastic, free way to meet lovely local people from around East Dulwich and share your passion for storytelling. We would love to have you pull up a chair with us!

Real stories of people who found their people in London.

Hannah Cole · 3 June 2026 I moved to London for the job. The loneliness nearly sent me home. Arriving in a city of nine million people and feeling invisible - and the ordinary Tuesday evening that slowly changed everything. Stephen Pryce · 11 June 2026 I couldn't remember the last time I'd made a new friend. Then I made one at 41. My friendships had quietly thinned out over a decade, and I'd stopped believing new ones were still possible at my age. A weekly board game night proved me wrong. Margaret Ellison · 5 June 2026 At 68, I thought my world had got smaller. A walking group proved me wrong. After I retired and lost my husband, the house went quiet and the days got long. Then a Saturday walking group gave me back something I thought was gone for good.
